Reduce the electrical lighting costs in the most efficient way possible while maintaining and improving light levels in both the storage warehouse, outside flood lights and office areas.

Key Targets:
• Reduction of energy usage
• Improvement of light quality
• Fast payback
• No disruption to day-to-day running of the warehouse
In the offices we have removed all old fluorescent T8 5ft and 6ft tubes and replaced with our retro T8 LED tubes. Outside we have removed the old 250/400 watt floodlights and replaced with our high power 100 watt floodlights with microwave sensors and daylight saving sensors. As for the 4 warehouse blocks we have removed all 400 watt low bay, high bay units and used a combination of 200 watt high bay and low bay units fitted with microwave sensors. By doing this forklift trucks will only trigger lights as far as they go up an aisle. This will result in massive energy savings not only by reducing the energy consumption but by the introduction of sensors. The savings are enormous and add to this that they no longer have to keep hiring scissor lifts to replace blown 400 watt lamps, the long term savings will be huge.

Due to the fact that the warehouse operates 24 hours a day and 6.5 days a week, we had to work around the busy environment.
Annual energy savings: £17,409 (not including introduction of microwave sensor)
Annual maintenance savings £2,000
Payback period: 2.1 years
Annual CO2 savings: 64 tonnes
Total savings over 15 year lifespan: £261,180
